Pink Floyd est un groupe de rock britannique qui a réussi à tracer la voie de la musique progressive et psychédélique d'une manière qui était particulièrement fascinante à l'époque et qui est restée tout aussi importante à l'ère moderne. Le nom "Pink Floyd" vient de deux musiciens de blues que le membre fondateur Syd Barrett idolâtrait - Pink Anderson et Floyd Council. Le groupe a été formé en 1965 à Londres par Barrett (guitares, chant), Nick Mason (batterie), Roger Waters (basse) et Richard Wright (claviers). Peu après la sortie de leur premier album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967), le groupe s'est adjoint un deuxième chanteur-guitariste, David Gilmour, qui a largement contribué à remplacer Barrett, contraint de partir en 1968 pour des raisons de santé mentale, ce qui a permis à Waters de devenir le chanteur principal. Le groupe s'est imposé dans le grand public avec Dark Side of the Moon en 1973, un album qui est devenu l'un des disques les plus vendus et les plus influents de l'histoire de la musique. Les albums suivants, Wish You Were Here en 1975 et Animals en 1977, se sont également bien vendus. Cependant, le groupe a commencé à connaître des querelles lors de la réalisation de l'album suivant, un opéra rock sur le sentiment de frustration et de détachement de Waters vis-à-vis de son public. Waters est apparemment devenu extrêmement contrôlant, renvoyant Wright en raison de différends concernant les tournées et ses contributions à l'album. Le résultat, The Wall en 1979, est devenu le double album le plus vendu de tous les temps. Il a donné naissance à des chansons emblématiques telles que le tube numéro 1, "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2", et la mélodieuse "Comfortably Numb". Après l'échec de Final Cut, sorti en 1983, Waters décide d'abandonner le groupe et tente de le dissoudre, mais Gilmour, Mason et Wright choisissent de réaliser d'autres albums sous le nom du groupe, malgré un procès intenté par Waters, ce qui permet au Floyd de rester en vie jusqu'à sa pause collective en 1996, après la tournée The Division Bell de 1994. Le quatuor a réussi à se racheter et à se réunir pour un dernier concert en 2005, interprétant cinq chansons pour le concert Live 8 à Hyde Park. Barrett est décédé en 2006 et Wright en 2008, mais l'héritage de Pink Floyd reste vivant à travers leur vaste discographie, ainsi que les nombreux projets solo de Gilmour et Waters, les rééditions du catalogue du groupe, et le dernier album du groupe, The Endless River de novembre 2014 - un disque composé de restes d'enregistrements de l'ère Division Bell. En septembre 2019, le groupe a lancé une tournée multimédia de cinq mois en Allemagne. "The Pink Floyd Exhibition : Their Mortal Remains" cherche à révéler aux visiteurs des expériences qu'ils ne pourraient vivre nulle part ailleurs. Par exemple, l'exposition présente des enregistrements inédits de concerts, des jetons des membres du groupe, etc.
