For the verse Matt Nathanson is using one of his more common chord progressions here where he keeps a certain
"base" by doubling both the open 1st and 2nd string with the 9-9-0-0 on the first four strings which means
the only thing that changes throughout the song is the root note.
For the chorus he employs a similiar technique by doubling the 1st string with the constant 4-5-0 on the
first three stings. Based on their root notes the chords stay almost the same in reference to the verse yet
the voicings change.

[Verse 2]
Wasted my September
     Bsus4              Asus2
With you stuck up in my head
Raced the days closed
       Bsus4                         Asus2
In the hopes that the mornings would swell again
Don't offer me rewards
Bsus4                     Asus2
  That's a weight I don't need
I've seen stronger men draped over your shoulder
Bsus4                      Asus2
So filled with praises and too drunk to leave
[Pre-Chorus}
Bsus4     C#m7    Asus2
Baby I'm fallin'   away
Bsus4     C#m7    Asus2
Baby I'm fallin'   away

Cuz you were always good at putting words together
And how you always liked me better when I never came around
You were always good at putting words together
