Hillbilly Bone
As sung by Blake Shelton feat. Trace Adkins
2010 by Luke Laird and Craig Wiseman

[Verse 1]
Ya I gotta friend in New York City
He's never heard of Conway Twitty
Don't know nothin' bout' grits and greens
Never been south of Queens
But he flew down here on a business trip
I took him honky-tonkin' and that was it
He took to it like a pig to mud
Like a cow to cud
[CHORUS 1] (double with bass vocal)
We all got a hillbilly bone down deep inside
No matter where you're from you just can't hide
When the band starts bangin' and the fiddle saws
You can't help a-hollerin' yee-haw
When you see them pretty little country queens
Man you gotta admit that it's in them genes
D7add6
Ain't nothin' wrong just gettin' on
N.C.
Your hillbilly bone-ba-bone-ba-bone-bone
[Instrumental 1]

[Verse 2]
Nah you ain't gotta be born out in the sticks
With an F one-fifty and a thirty-aught-six
Or have a bubba in the family tree
To get on down with me
Yeah Bubba all you need is an open mind
If it fires you up you gotta let it shine
When it feels so right that it can't be wrong
'mon 'mon 'mon you ain't alone
[CHORUS 1] (double with bass vocal)
We all got a hillbilly bone down deep inside
No matter where you're from you just can't hide
When the band starts bangin' and the fiddle saws
You can't help a-hollerin' yee-haw
When you see them pretty little country queens
Man you gotta admit that it's in them genes

NOTE 1: HELP! I can't get the tab to accept a G7no3 chord. I tried typing G7no3
and G7(no3) and G5add7 neither will display as a chord only as text. So I'm
resorting to simply G5.. play G7no3 instead! Can anyone advise me on this?
NOTE 2: A common motif in this song is walking bass lines approaching the next
phrase; I've only bothered notating the first several.
NOTE 3: I’m more familiar with Home Free's vsn; probably influenced this chart.
NOTE 4: Last chorus has a distinctive rhythm both the original and Home Free's
cover (they differ from each other). In Home Free's cover each measure has
three accented quarters in a row with a rest on beat 4: low low high rest.
