Village People est un groupe disco américain connu pour ses costumes de scène, ses chansons entraînantes et ses paroles suggestives. Le groupe a été formé à l'origine par les producteurs Jacques Morali, Henri Belolo et le chanteur Victor Willis. Leur première sortie a été l'album Village People, qui ciblait le public gay du disco. Le nom du groupe fait référence au Greenwich Village de New York, connu à l'époque pour son importante population gay. Les personnages étaient un groupe symbolique de personnages fantaisistes gays et machos.
