Supertramp est un groupe de rock anglais formé en 1969 (qui a pris ce nom en 1970). Leur style oscille entre le rock progressif et un pop rock plus grand public. L'œuvre du groupe est marquée par l'écriture des fondateurs Rick Davies et Roger Hodgson et l'utilisation importante du piano électrique Wurlitzer et du saxophone. Connaissant un énorme succès dans la seconde moitié des années 70, Supertramp a créé plusieurs tubes très populaires et reconnaissables, à commencer par School et Dreamer, issus de leur percée commerciale de 1974, Crime Of The Century. Even In The Quietest Moments..., sorti en 1977, a vu deux autres titres marquants écrits par Hodgson, Give A Little Bit et Fool's Overture, avant que le groupe et son duo principal n'atteignent leur apogée avec le disque le plus vendu du groupe, Breakfast In America, sorti en 1979. Cet album comprend à lui seul pas moins de 6 titres populaires : quatre d'Hodgson (The Logical Song, Take The Long Way Home, Child Of Vision et le titre) et les deux créations les plus connues de Davies, Gone Hollywood et Goodbye Stranger. L'album suivant sera le dernier avec Roger Hodgson, après quoi Richard Davies dirigera seul le groupe dans les années 80 et la montée des synthétiseurs numériques. Si Supertramp existe toujours, le dernier album du groupe est sorti en 2002.
